Summary

Fairy Tale was as if Stephen King said “oh hey, you like to read? I have a present for you。” This book isn’t scary, it’s wonderful。 Like a lucid dream in which you’re fully aware you’re dreaming, our protagonist Charlie is fully aware he’s living a fairy tale。 Such a great book! I was completely enthralled。

A young man inherits a door to another world but this fairy tale world is darker than it first appears。

I’m terrible at at giving unbiased reviews to King’s novels… but I really did love this one。 It has a Dark Tower-ish feel to it and I loved all the characters which made it perfect in my opinion

Knowing this was Stephen King, I had very high expectations。 And, as I expected, I wasn't disappointed。Charlie befriended an old man full of secrets, the biggest of them being the hidden world inside the shed。 I confess that in the begging I didn't really understand where the story was going and got confused, but then I got that the confusion was intentional。 Like Charlie, we're being introduced to a whole new world, one we don't understand at all, and whose rules are utterly unknown to any of u Knowing this was Stephen King, I had very high expectations。 And, as I expected, I wasn't disappointed。Charlie befriended an old man full of secrets, the biggest of them being the hidden world inside the shed。 I confess that in the begging I didn't really understand where the story was going and got confused, but then I got that the confusion was intentional。 Like Charlie, we're being introduced to a whole new world, one we don't understand at all, and whose rules are utterly unknown to any of us。 The new world is both fantastic and scary, and we are made to accompany Charlie as he unravels the secrets one by one。 It's a nice trip, one I'll be sure to make again。Stephen King hasn't let me down yet, and I'll be tuned for any new projects, as well as adding more of his works to my reading list。 。。。more

I am an avid sci-fi / fantasy reader。 I was thus quite surprised when the entire first 1/3 of this book had zero fantasy elements。 None。 But I was even more surprised when I found I couldn't put this book down。 I was sad it was going to end when I wasn't even 20% done! Those non-fantasy elements were written by a true master, and I enjoyed every page of it。When the book shifts into fantasy after Charlie reaches the other world, I loved it even more。 Great storytelling, with a huge dose of humani I am an avid sci-fi / fantasy reader。 I was thus quite surprised when the entire first 1/3 of this book had zero fantasy elements。 None。 But I was even more surprised when I found I couldn't put this book down。 I was sad it was going to end when I wasn't even 20% done! This was a fun adventure。 I loved the first third of the novel, the middle third felt a bit stale, and the last third round of out again nicely。

EXCELLENT。 Everything about it is absolutely excellent。 Did not disappoint!

All the greatest things SK。 Also Radar forever ❤️

This book was great! Charlie is an absolute great character。 You feel his pain and how smart he is。 He is a very well rounded young man。 Charley, the old man and Radar take you on a fantastical adventure of fairy tales and evil。 Escape to another world of fairy tales and evil and follow Charlie as he discovers a whole new world。

It´s difficult for me to rate this book。 I´ve liked a lot of King´s works, loved a few, quit reading him some years ago,"rediscovered" him with Billy Summers and Later, which I thought excellent。King is a gifted storyteller, there´s no doubt about that。 This one, though。。。 The first part-as many reviewers pointed out-is King at his best,an irresistible combination:old man full of secrets, teenager, and what clinched it for me: a dog。However, when the fantasy part starts,I lost interest quickly。 I thoug It´s difficult for me to rate this book。 I´ve liked a lot of King´s works, loved a few, quit reading him some years ago,"rediscovered" him with Billy Summers and Later, which I thought excellent。King is a gifted storyteller, there´s no doubt about that。 This one, though。。。 The first part-as many reviewers pointed out-is King at his best,an irresistible combination:old man full of secrets, teenager, and what clinched it for me: a dog。However, when the fantasy part starts,I lost interest quickly。 I thought that was due to fantasy not being my favourite genre (I seldom read it),but other fantasy fans have said that part wasn´t to their linking either,so it´s not me,it´s-sadly-the book。So,10/10 for the writing,100/10 for the dog and the bond Charlie develops with her,and barely a 5 for the rest。 。。。more

With Stephen King, fairy tales come true。 Elegantly woven together into a believeable, thrilling, and sometimes chilling tapestry of a story。

This is classic King--a saga, wonderful teenaged main character, flawed and imperfect, who goes through true hardship and comes out strong。 Plus, it has a really good ending。 I love King, but I think endings are his weakness。 Sometimes they can fall flat, but not this time。If you're not a fan of horror, don't let that put you off。 This is not 'Salem's Lot。 This has a creepy bad villain, but it's much more in the vein of a fairy tale。 I think practically everyone will like this book。 This is classic King--a saga, wonderful teenaged main character, flawed and imperfect, who goes through true hardship and comes out strong。 Plus, it has a really good ending。 I love King, but I think endings are his weakness。 Sometimes they can fall flat, but not this time。If you're not a fan of horror, don't let that put you off。 This is not 'Salem's Lot。 This has a creepy bad villain, but it's much more in the vein of a fairy tale。 I think practically everyone will like this book。 。。。more

I'm not going to lie。 I was skeptical about reading a Stephen King fantasy novel。 I have to say though, it was amazing。 The details that make you see this other world Charilie descends into, the people in that world。 All amazing。 You can feel the adventure and emotions of the characters, including Radar the dog as they travel through this world within ours。 From when Charlie is fighting for his life in the Fair One, to when he decides to try and find a way to break the curse that the land and pe I'm not going to lie。 I was skeptical about reading a Stephen King fantasy novel。 I have to say though, it was amazing。 The details that make you see this other world Charilie descends into, the people in that world。 All amazing。 You can feel the adventure and emotions of the characters, including Radar the dog as they travel through this world within ours。 From when Charlie is fighting for his life in the Fair One, to when he decides to try and find a way to break the curse that the land and people are under。 I felt so many emotions during this novel, from sadness to joy and everything in between。 。。。more

I feel like。。。 this book wasn't intended for me。 There wasn't any weight to the character deaths, and the plot was a mishmash of "introduce a problem and solve it immediately"。I was left wishing that the intrigue of the early parts of the book had carried forward through the rest of the book。 I feel like。。。 this book wasn't intended for me。 There wasn't any weight to the character deaths, and the plot was a mishmash of "introduce a problem and solve it immediately"。I was left wishing that the intrigue of the early parts of the book had carried forward through the rest of the book。 。。。more

I loved everything about this book! I haven’t been this floored by superb storytelling in quite some time, and I wasn’t expecting it from Stephen King。 I haven’t read anything by him this good in two decades。 Charlie Reade, you’re average 17-year old, does a good deed。 He helps a neighbor, Mr。 Bowditch who has hurt himself and takes care of said man’s elderly German shepherd, Radar。 Mr。 Bowditch has secrets, and eventually he passes them onto Charlie。Charlie then starts on a dangerous mission to I loved everything about this book! Stop what you’re doing and read this book!!!What a fantastic novel。 Truly amazing。 Everything you could want from a fantasy adventure novel about a young man and his beloved dog。 It flows amazingly, from being a story about a boy who lost his mom, befriending a grumpy old man to a story about another world with two moons。I can see myself reading this over and over and enjoying it just as much every time, I don’t have a single critique, I don’t think anything could make this better。 Perhaps my fa Stop what you’re doing and read this book!!!What a fantastic novel。 Truly amazing。 Everything you could want from a fantasy adventure novel about a young man and his beloved dog。 It flows amazingly, from being a story about a boy who lost his mom, befriending a grumpy old man to a story about another world with two moons。I can see myself reading this over and over and enjoying it just as much every time, I don’t have a single critique, I don’t think anything could make this better。 Perhaps my favourite King work so far。 。。。more

Enjoyed this--it deliver on what the title promises, never gets too complicate for its own good, and there's a lot of terrific, creepy imagery throughout; sometimes explains a little too much, but never to the point of tedium, and while King's ability to capture the voice of a modern 17 year-old is questionable, the narrator is still likable throughout。 Enjoyed this--it deliver on what the title promises, never gets too complicate for its own good, and there's a lot of terrific, creepy imagery throughout; sometimes explains a little too much, but never to the point of tedium, and while King's ability to capture the voice of a modern 17 year-old is questionable, the narrator is still likable throughout。 。。。more
